Linda Klein is the founder and administrator of Jewish Singles of South Florida, an organization that brings single Jewish adults together at social gatherings across Southeast Florida. Based in the Fort Lauderdale area, she plans and runs the events herself, and she describes her own role, with a good sense of humor, as the "chaos coordinator."

## Why She Started Jewish Singles of South Florida

Linda established the group in March 2014 with a clear purpose: to give Jewish singles a welcoming and respectful place to meet one another, whatever their level of religious observance. What began as a way to connect people has grown into a community that serves singles throughout South Florida.

The group has also drawn regional attention. [OURJNews featured Jewish Singles of South Florida on page 61 of Issue #46](https://heyzine.com/flip-book/cde950d16e.html#page/61), and the group is grateful to the publication and to its editor, group member Linda Chase, for accommodating a last-minute submission.

## The Events She Plans

Linda designs gatherings that give people room for natural conversation and laughter, and she tailors events to different age groups, including Jewish singles in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s and beyond. The format varies from one event to the next.

- **Social mixers.** Casual get-togethers at local venues, such as Happy Hour specials at Abby's Restaurant & Bar in Cooper City, with no cover charge.
- **Cultural evenings.** Upscale evenings such as "The Palettes" series at Bitton Art in Dania Beach, which pairs contemporary art exhibits and live piano music with a full buffet dinner and drinks.
- **Holiday celebrations.** Seasonal community events, including Chanukah parties and dinners built around kosher dining.
